The skies were dark as the wind picked up, causing the tall grass in the field to bow before it as if in deference to its power. The air was chilled and heavy with the scent of rain as the clouds became thicker and thicker above. Lightning flashed overhead, but it was not caused by any natural means.
The white robed mage turned from the window, a heavy sigh escaping his lips. He was an elderly man, his long hair and beard silvered by age. In his hand was a long mahogany staff; the orange crystal on its top was glowing faintly, reacting to his nerves.
